This kitchen needed updated and reconfigured to better utilize space. The existing kitchen lacked efficient layout and functionality. It featured a paneled soffit, which limited vertical space, and was closed off from the rest of the house, creating a disconnected feel. The layout wasn’t cohesive with the overall design of the home. Additionally, one wall had an underutilized window, restricting cabinetry placement, while the range and refrigerator were not optimally positioned. The space was reconfigured to address these challenges. The paneled soffit was removed to open up vertical space, and the window on one wall was closed off, allowing for a continuous bank of cabinetry. The range was relocated to the opposite wall, and the refrigerator’s placement was adjusted for better accessibility. The sink remained in its original location, but the dishwasher was moved to the opposite side to reduce appliance interference.
Cabinetry and storage were upgraded with the installation of white shaker cabinets featuring crown molding that extends to the ceiling. This design choice maximized vertical storage space while brightening the kitchen and creating a clean, cohesive aesthetic. To create a more open and inviting atmosphere, the kitchen was opened up to the dining room. By removing the wall between these spaces, we achieved a smoother flow and improved natural light throughout the area. The new layout fosters better connectivity, making the kitchen a more integral part of the home’s living space.
Materials and finishes were carefully selected to enhance the space’s warmth and texture. Greige quartz countertops were chosen for their durability and ability to pull warmth from the new luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring. A hand molded, textured large subway tile backsplash was added to bridge the gap between the white cabinetry and warm countertops, introducing depth and visual interest. Gold cabinet pulls with hand-textured detailing provide warmth and contrast against the stainless steel appliances. An undermount sink and sleek Delta faucet completed the functional upgrades, enhancing both style and usability. The redesigned kitchen blends seamlessly with the rest of the home. It feels brighter, more spacious, and inviting while maximizing functionality.
